Capital Shield 19

September 4, 2019 - Marines from The Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) train during Exercise Capital Shield. The purpose of this

exercise is to increase first responder capabilities in the case of an attack on the capital. CBIRF Marines and Sailors train to quickly deploy,

provide extraction and decontamination of casualties and render aid to those injured in an attack or disaster. In this exercise, CBIRF worked with

sailors of the Assault Craft Unit-4 to work on CBIRF's ability to maneuver to the Washington D.C. area via Landing Craft Air Cushions (LCACS). Marines

and Sailors worked together to quickly offload and onload CBIRF equipment. The second part of the exercise had CBIRF Marines and Sailors working with

the Army National Guard's 33rd Civil Support Team, as they conducted rescue and decontamination drills.
