MCAS Yuma Partners With Community Stakeholders for National Preparedness Month

1 Oct 2015 | Ready Marine Corps

Marine Corps Air Station Yuma was one of eleven Marine Corps Installations to participate in the September 2015 National Preparedness Month (NPM). MCAS Yuma held five indirect and five direct informational activities to reach it 8,000-person population. The installation used the preparedness campaign to build upon relationships established during America’s PrepareAthon! in April 2015.

MCAS Yuma Emergency Manager partnered with Defense Commissary Agency, Marine Corps Exchange, Navy Branch Health Clinic, Armed Forces Bank, Station Theater, Denny’s Restaurant, and Navy Federal Credit Union to assemble a sample emergency preparedness kit (pictured). The installation broadened its outreach through these partnerships to reach personnel, their families, and retirees in the local community.

Preparedness information was also disseminated by video. Based on customer counts, more than 140,000 people had the opportunity to view this the video posted on MCAS Yuma’s Facebook page (
