For Travelers: Zika Virus Alert

If you are traveling to or returning from Central America, South America, the Caribbean, or Mexico, please be aware of the risk for exposure to Zika virus. The virus is a mosquito-borne illness that causes fever, rash, joint pain, conjunctivitis, and may be linked to poor pregnancy outcomes. On February 17, 2016, the Marine Corps issued MARADMIN 083/16 Zika Virus Force Health Protection as guidance. On January 15, 2016, the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center issued an alert that it is monitoring reports of Zika Virus. The Centers for Disease Control issued travel health notices urging people to practice enhanced precautions when traveling to regions and countries where Zika virus transmission is ongoing.
